rules & points of note |
Please note that this just covers general rules on the site - if you're looking for specific systems, please check one of the other threads in this section.
general
1. Be excellent to each other! That means respecting your fellow role players. Don’t godmod (ie. take control of a character without permission), don’t make unwelcome remarks about someone else or their character ooc, don’t be a creep and force your ship on someone, don't be a creep in general, make note of any potentially troubling content in the description section below the subject before you post… basically, anything common sense that would get you labeled as ‘That Guy’ is probably a bad move.
2. Keep it tasteful. So long as we're in Proboards's house, we must in turn follow their rules... well, that, and chances are nobody wants to read about your ocs caboodling other than you and whoever you're shipping with. We're a 2-2-2 forum, but if you're going to get descriptively graphic, take it offsite to a private discord or something so we don't get deleted and passing minors aren't blinded.
Of course, it shouldn't need to be said, but minors are not permitted to participate in NSFW content. If you are under 18 and found to be lying about your age, soliciting, or participating in smut, or if you are an adult and are found to have knowingly solicited or participated in smut with minors, you will be banned from the site without question or debate.
3. We are not a word count dependent site, meaning we place no restrictions on your writing here! Things like length and style are to be worked out on a thread-by-thread basis with your partner. Paragraphs, one liners with icons, it’s all good. Just make sure you clear what you want to do with your partner and follow through on whatever you agree upon.
4. Face claims are optional here. While you are welcome to use icons and face claims if desired, there are two caveats to this - no real people, and no stolen art. Content from a series's canon may be used freely, but if you use art in icons that you didn't draw, you WILL be required to link and credit the artist in the notes at the end of your post - otherwise, the admin will personally come into your house and lambaste you. Failure to respect artists means the artists themselves may eventually feel uncomfortable posting their content on the web - and we at SKYDROP! have no desire to perpetuate any sort of mistreatment further.
5. SKYDROP! is a canon divergent site. This means, while canon events, characters, and institutions exist, they are not necessarily 100% vital to the lore and can be altered on a basis of necessity - we are working with multiple universes here, after all! Canon characters may also be permitted to be played with special permission, but would find themselves starting with the same odds as anyone else for the sake of fairness.
6. Please only plug your forums, kickstarter, zines, or whatever else in the designated section. If it's found anywhere else, it will be deleted.
7. Be nice to your admin/mods. At the time of writing there is only one of me. Please don't heckle me if I take a few days to serve you. If you've been waiting a week, yes, that's fair, but not a few days.
8. SKYDROP! offers a lot of opportunities for minor power roles. That isn't just with gym leaders or other similar public figures, either - members are allowed to run mini-events, spawn mid-tier rarity Pokemon, build up cities, carve out mountains and establish teams and institutions that never existed previously. However, keep in mind that this is completely OPTIONAL - you are under no expectation to have to fulfill mod-like duties at any time, but the flexibility is provided so that players might feel free to stretch their creative wings in the setting if desired. You're welcome to simply participate in goings-on or work SD! like it's a slice of life rp if that helps you get the most out of it.
activity
1. Activity checks will be held at the start of each in-game season - which is to say, once every 6 weeks. We're pretty lax in terms of progression around here, and only anticipate you post at least twice with each character you have during that time.
2. On a similar note, SKYDROP runs on collidal time - meaning, it is both solid and liquid at the same time. What this means for you is that, while all threads are done in liquid time and you may take as many as you like over the course of the season, all of them will end at the start of the next season unless special exception is given. This is to keep things relaxed and open, but still leave room for progression. Theoretically, your OC would also age 2 years for every 1 that passes in real time by this system.
characters
1. You are permitted to create a maximum of 3 characters. This may change in the future, but to start with, that's the limit.
2. We are a multi-account site. While you do not necessarily need to create an OOC account if undesired, we request that you do create an individual account for each character that you make.
3. At the present time, only human characters are permitted. We may in the future open things up to allow for legendary Pokemon to be played, but not presently. On that note, while canon gameverse characters are permitted, we do not allow animeverse, mangaverse, or crossover characters. Canon characters will be held to stricter standards to OCs - you can find more on this on the application page.
4. Premade Pokemon and Ultra Beasts may be permitted on a case by case basis. Due to the nature of how characters arrive in the setting, the majority of trainers will likely have been separated from their Pokemon - either by slipping away from each other while in Ultra Space, by memory loss experienced by one or both parties, or by death. While some of these Pokemon may appear later in the wilds of Agresti, assume that in a best-case scenario, your character likely was only able to hang on to one of their Pokemon. These Pokemon cannot be legendary, but otherwise, most other aspects are fair game. Make sure to check our Pokemon section for information before setting up.
5. The region of Agresti is not a safe place - there is a high chance that your characters and Pokemon may be hurt venturing out of city limits. Your characters will never die without your permission, of course, but, save for what is already established, much of the Agresti region is still covered in untamed wilderness. Routes and cities do not come pre-built for your journey - they must instead be founded, sometimes at a very human cost. Not to mention, there is no officially enforced legal system that oversees the region as of yet, beyond the actions of independent citizens. Please keep this in mind before venturing forth - you could find anything out there.
c-box and discord
1. Follow site rules listed above. That's literally it. And that will continue to be the only rule, so long as nobody is a heel about it.
2. If you have a Discord or other PM-based thread you want counted as canon, please post it in the appropriate setting once completed. For example, if your thread took place in Frontier City Explorer's Guild, post it in there. A mod will come to look at it and archive it for you. It would be appreciated if any timestamps or similar formatting could be removed, but we do understand this isn't always possible.
